A Little Bit Of History About SmartAlarms
SmartAlarms has grown out of a long established family business called Lde Data Communications Ltd. Julio and Bev started the business 20 years ago and there are now two generations involved. Julio has many years’ experience working for huge multi-national organizations developing leading edge technology solutions.
Both businesses are run from a set of converted barns in the grounds of their farmhouse in a beautiful part of southern England. The family are passionate about customer service, ethical trading and supporting the wider community. Bev works part time as a magistrate locally and every year the business and the family support The Italian Job Children’s Charity Car Rally from Italy to the UK.
Lde works in data communications, notably designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting wide area computer networks. They specialise in ‘difficult’ environments- oil depots, quarries and concrete plants. At present, Lde supports over 500 sites, with pro-active 24-hour monitoring across a range of customers that include Total, Cemex, Home office approved Forensic Laboratories and Highland Fuels, as well as ad hoc data communications for Formula 1 teams testing locally, airshows and the BBC.
We were asked some years ago to install a security system for one of our data communications clients. They had specialist requirements that needed a solution that used the latest leading edge technology. Our company ethos is always to provide bespoke systems that are right for the client and not those that are necessarily the easiest or cheapest for us to install. Using our specialist data communications experience, we developed our Digital Video Surveillance and Access Control system for them incorporating our SmartAlarms cameras, software and systems. The success of the system was such that ‘SmartAlarms’ the business was born.

We now have hundreds of clients across the UK, all relying on us to protect and secure their business. We work in some of the harshest environments: quarries, oil depots, construction sites as well as more standard and traditional business premises and can achieve this because of the quality of the equipment. Able to withstand extreme temperatures, wind, dust, rain and snow, we are confident that the cameras and equipment will perform; coupled with our monitoring team and great software that drives the whole system, we know that we have a winning formula.
